The History of Paradigm Farms Horse Sales

A leap of faith and a Norwegian Fjord named Tink lead to an unlikely partnership for horse sales.

Paradigm Farms Horse Sales has been in the making for almost twenty years. The three principals, Jason and Melissa Webb and Lauren Romanelli, have been working together for many years.

Over Jason’s objections, Melissa and Lauren bought a project horse together with the intent of having fun developing the horse and then selling it. Melissa had never had any interest in selling horses (she was always excited about buying them!), but Lauren convinced her it could be fun. Given Melissa’s track record with buying and never selling horses, Jason was convinced they would not actually sell the horse.

Much to his surprise Lauren and Melissa did sell the horse, and they continued to seek out project horses to develop with time and good training, and then sell them into great homes. Lauren and Melissa mainly look for horses that can be enjoyed.

We all want a horse that can be used in sport, but a lot of people forget the fun part. Horses should be fun, and you should look for reasons to ride your horse every day instead of looking for reasons not to ride.

A  Norwegian Fjord named Tink came into Lauren’s life a few years ago. She was originally meant to be a fun side project for Lauren, but Tink somehow ended up at Jason and Melissa’s farm for Melissa to ride.

Staying consistent, Jason also objected to this arrangement. In an unanticipated twist of fate, Jason fell in love with a horse for the first time, became an avowed Fjord enthusiast, and decided he wanted to start importing quality Fjords from Europe.

One thing led to another, and now Lauren, Jason and Melissa are importing Fjords, Irish cobs and warmbloods from Europe.

The People Behind Paradigm Farms Horse Sales

Trainer Lauren Romanelli has been competing at the FEI level in eventing for several years. Lauren is known for her abilities to match horses and riders, ride everything from quirky horses to push button horses, and for making the process of buying and selling horses enjoyable.

Lauren has sold and/or leased more than 150 horses during her career and has earned a reputation of operating with honesty and integrity.

Melissa and Jason Webb run Paradigm Farms, Inc. in Lynnville, Tennessee. Paradigm Farms is an internationally known horse retirement farm. They have retirees from 18 states and 2 Canadian provinces.

Melissa has been riding horses since she was six years old.  She grew up showing in hunters, jumpers, and equitation, and then transitioned to the amateur ring. At one point Melissa was a reasonably skilled and brave rider, but long ago accepted that those attributes are no longer accurate. Melissa has two Norwegian Fjords that she and her son ride. They do dressage, low-level eventing and foxhunting.

Jason’s education and professional background are in large animal nutrition. He grew up on a multi-thousand acre family farm in Canada. Jason had extensive knowledge about how to feed horses when he met Melissa, but did not become personally involved with horses until he met and married Melissa.

Jason would claim that the entire sport was misrepresented to him, and no one ever accurately discussed the time and money involved in owning and showing horses. Now Jason lives on a horse farm, enjoys taking trips to Europe to search for prospects to import, and generally leads a life that he would never have predicted for himself.
